LIVING A LIFE OF GRATITUDE
No matter where you find yourself in this journey called life, the one known “secret” to living a truly happy life is gratitude. Just look around, you are surrounded by endless things to be thankful for. The question is when you wake up every morning, will you choose to see all the things you do have or will you only focus on the things you don’t? Our thoughts create our destiny. What you see in your life right now, good or bad, is a culmination of all your past thoughts turning into reality. Watch your thoughts, they are powerful.
Just to clarify, none of us are perfect. We all have bad days and negative thoughts. No one is going to be 100% positive and have 100% positive thoughts all the time. It’s not possible. However, we do need to be cognizant of the fact that we do hold the power and choice to control them. I just recently listened to a podcast by Joel Osteen and he compared our minds/decisions to a TV clicker. When we are watching something we no longer want to see on TV, we immediately change the channel with out hesitation to something else. Well, let’s apply that theory to our minds. When our minds drift to a negative “channel”, we need to learn to change the channel to a more positive frequency. There IS where our power lies. I loved this analogy made by Joel. I’m aware that this isn’t always quite as easy to do as it sounds. Filtering your thoughts requires a conscious effort, repeated practice and having a little faith. The reward however, is manifesting the life of your dreams.
Feel yourself breath…you are alive! See the sunshine peeking through your window …you have the ability to see! The loud sound of your alarm clock buzzes…you can hear! Within 5 minutes of waking up, you already have numerous things to be grateful for. Remember these immensely important things when you are complaining about the small insignificant ones. Learning to be grateful through the highs and lows of your life is essential. It is through stress, breakups and difficult times that we actually have to practice even more gratitude. We can’t forget our blessings and we must focus harder on our strengths. We have to hold onto everything truly important and not take anyone or anything for granted.
Keep a vision of your dreams, choose to always see opportunity instead of roadblocks and be grateful for the present and what you have right now. Often times when you are grateful, life gives you more things to be grateful for!
Today, on this Good Friday and always remember to keep looking up and count your blessings daily!
