A LETTER TO MY 16 YR OLD SELF
You have no idea how wonderful you have it. Your parents are absolute saints-trust me, this isn’t the “norm”! Be grateful, cherish and appreciate them! You are attending some of the best schools in the country-“savvyness” is not universal-utilize that! Soak in everything you can, read, network and be genuinely kind to everyone you meet, it always comes back to you 10-fold. Travel whenever you can and experience different cultures and places. This will enable you to know where you truly feel at home. Consider going to California for college. I have a feeling you will love it! wink..wink..;-)
I know that you think everything you wish for is supposed to happen and come easily… FYI-that is not always the case. You have to work hard, make sacrifices and still sometimes it doesn’t work out like you planned…but relax, it actually works out for the better, so don’t stress! Don’t sweat the small stuff girl. The only thing stress does is age you! Don’t do it, it’s not worth the wrinkles! 😉
Please let life flow to you. Don’t block it with trying to control every situation. Try and be open to new experiences. Smile at everyone you encounter and throw positivity and compliments around like confetti. It is truly an amazing feeling to make people feel good.
Keep your body moving. Stay active. Do yoga. Meditate. Lift weights. Appreciate the body you have and what it can do. Nourish your body with healthy foods. Indulge, but try and keep sugar to a minimum. Eat the rainbow. Drink tons of water. Your skin will thank you! Turmeric and collagen, yes, are a thing… to consider taking that is!
Every time you meet someone special give it a chance to develop. Sometimes it takes men a little while to open up and show you their best selves. They are just as nervous as you and want to impress you. However, listen to your gut and don’t give it too much time. When you feel he’s not a fit, be strong enough to walk away and strong enough to close the door fast. You don’t want to miss the right opportunity with the right person, because you are too busy looking back. Don’t waste valuable time. Time is the one thing you can never get back.
Live in the moment, with a grasp on the past and an eye on the future.
The most important thing… Never quit. You will have disappointments and feel discouraged at times, but keep your head up and keep moving forward, because per mom-better is around the corner! BE YOU! BE STRONG! BE CONSISTENT! BE RESILIENT! BE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT! BE KIND! BE GENEROUS! BE LOVING! There will never be another you-unique and wonderfully made!
P.S. You may want to go back to your real roots as a blonde also. Blondes DO have more fun! 😉 lol
