When I look back at my old Saturday morning Zumba Dance classes (10:30am with Alexa Malzone), I realize that Zumba was more to me then a fitness class. It was a release. It was a social experience. It was pure passion. It was freedom. It was exhilarating. It was sexy. It was empowering. It was letting go. It was being the best version of me. It was expressive. It was being at one with my body and how it could move. It was a fitness family. A consistency. It was familiar faces that I loved. It was refreshing after a long workweek.
After Alexa left Equinox at the Ritz, a part of me left with her. Not everyone has the talent she has! Yes, many dance instructors can dance. It’s that inexplicable quality she has. That energy that always made me rally no matter how exhausted I was! Flowing from movement to movement, wind running thru my hair, circular hip motions, smile from ear to ear, and shaking my ass was the most joy I’ve ever known in a fitness class! 1- hour of my life, for many Saturday mornings and for many years, I will forever cherish.
The women in this class I will forever remember because we shared a passion. We shared a true love for dancing, female bonding and a similar need for an escape from the stresses of life. I am grateful for the memories!
Fortunately, I just found out that ALEXA IS BACK and now teaching ZUMBA at LIFETIME FITNESS in Chesnut Hill!!!! I’m ecstatic! A new journey begins with old favorites! I hope to see some familiar faces and I look forward to meeting new cool women! Now, I just hope I remember all the moves! 😛 See you there!!!
